The Wipers Seals or Scraper seals are primarily designed to keep contaminates out of a hydraulic system. Some Wipers or Scrapers have secondary functions that may include a harder scraping lip to remove stubborn contaminates such as bonded dirt, frost or ice; or a secondary lip used to capture any oil that may have bypassed the main seal.
